Frequently Asked Questions

  • My grandmother collected lighthouses. She was kind, strong, grounded, and always saw the best in people. Lighthouses are a symbol of hope, guidance, and overcoming adversity. They remind me of values I want to live by.

  • For adult clients, I will start getting to know you and your reasons for coming to therapy. Nothing is too big or too small for us to talk about, and I will meet you wherever you are at.

For child and teen clients, I typically meet with parents alone for the first session. This allows us to talk freely and in-depth about your child’s history and for you to share all of your parental insights about where your child shines and struggles. Your insight as a parent is important to me. We will talk about how to help your child or teen get the most benefit out of therapy.

  • I do not accept any insurances at this time.

If your policy allows Out of Network benefits (OON), I can provide you a suberbill to submit to your carrier.

  • Intake $150

    Counseling Session (50 min) $135

    Psychological Testing $160/hour

Most evaluations range between $375 (gifted) and $2240. Your evaluation will be tailored to your child and the cost will be given to you ahead of time.

Payment is expected on date of services rendered.

I provide a limited number of sliding scale spots through Open Path.

  • I accept cash, checks, or credit and debit cards.

I can also accept Step Up for Students funds (formerly Gardiner Scholarship).

You will be asked to keep a card on file, which will be charged after each session. For evaluation clients, payment is required in full prior to the report being finalized. Charges represent professional time spent, and not any specific outcome.

  • Your therapy or evaluation appointment has been reserved just for you. I request that my clients provide me with a minimum of 48 hours prior to canceling an appointment, as it is often difficult to fill an appointment slot last minute. Failure to cancel a minimum of 48 hours in advance will result in a charge to you for the usual hourly fee.

  • Complimentary Consultation

We will have a 15-minute phone conversation so that I can understand your concerns and make sure I am a good fit to help.

    Parent Intake

I will meet with you for a 1-hour session on telehealth or in office to gather information about your child. We will talk in-depth about their history and explore your concerns. I will design an evaluation tailored to your child’s needs.

    Child Sessions

I will meet with your child over one to two sessions and use a variety of child-friendly tools and approaches to uncover your child’s strengths and areas of need. In many cases, testing sessions will be scheduled over two different days. This varies based on the purpose of the assessment, as well as the age of your child.

    Analysis & Integration

Each piece of information collected will be analyzed and interpreted. A comprehensive report unique to your child is prepared.

    Results & Recommendations

I will meet with parents to review results and discuss evidence-based next steps for your child. For the initial feedback session, I recommend we meet as adults first so that you have time to take in the information and ask questions.

Many times, it is helpful to schedule an additional feedback session for your child. Feedback will be presented in a child-friendly and developmentally appropriate way.

  • If you have a young child, let him or her know that they will be doing different games and fun activities with a teacher’s helper. If you have an older child, let him or her know that they will be working with a doctor whose job it is to help kids do their best at school, at home, or in handling friends and feelings (customize the message based on your child). Most children enjoy the different “games” and activities that we do together during the evaluation. Your child will be given frequent breaks between tasks to keep the process relaxed and enjoyable.

The night before testing, stick to your normal routine and remember to give your child a good night’s rest. Try to have your child eat a healthy breakfast. Medications should be given as usual on testing day unless otherwise discussed with your Lighthouse Psychology provider and approved by your medical provider.

Lastly, remember to bring any glasses, hearing aids, communication devices, etc., that your child uses.
