Comprehensive Pediatric Evaluations

Comprehensive psychological evaluations help pinpoint the problem and determine how to help.

You have seen your child struggle and are wondering what to do next. Tears over homework, stomachaches every morning before school, concerned messages from the teacher, struggles with behavior or friendships- you are ready for answers.

Having your child evaluated does not have to be an intimidating experience. As a psychologist who specializes in child evaluations, I want to assure you this process is designed to support your child’s well-being and help them reach their full potential.

My focus will always be on creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment for you and your child.

I understand that every child is unique, and I will work closely with you to tailor the evaluation to your child’s individual needs.

The evaluation process involves a variety of tools and techniques, such as standardized tests, interviews, and observations. These methods are designed to assess your child’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning in a comprehensive way.

Ultimately my goal is to help you and your child understand their strengths and challenges, and to develop a plan for support and growth.

As a Licensed Psychologist, former school psychologist, and former elementary teacher, I know how to help. I believe that every child has the potential to thrive, and I am committed to providing a high-quality evaluation to get you moving in the right direction.

Parent Training &  Support

My clients face the same challenges as you do. Despite being loving, supportive, and proactive parents, they have a child who is struggling. They are well-informed and caring parents, but something is not working, and home life feels stressful. Some of my clients have children with recent ADHD or Anxiety diagnoses and are wondering- now what do I do?

When parents first come in, they wonder why everyday routines end in yelling or tears. They know they are frustrated, and that their child is frustrated too. Though times are hard, they believe things can get better and are willing to make changes to get there.

We can work together to address a variety of concerns, including:

  • Problems with bedtime or sleep

  • Childhood fears and anxiety

  • Picky eating

  • Difficulty accepting “no”

  • Managing big emotions

  • Following directions

Support is within your reach. If you want more confidence and connection on your parenting journey, I would love to help you get there.

Therapy for Teens

My teen clients are bright, conscientious achievers. Yet, despite having it all together “on paper” the pressure of teenage life is chipping away at them. They worry about it all- getting top grades, getting into the right college (even if college is years away), having enough extracurriculars, all on top of social pressures and wanting to be liked.

Their parents have noticed that their confidence has plummeted and motivation is waning. They are their own worst critic. They complain about what they see in the mirror. In friendships, they wonder if they fit in or why they are putting in more of the effort. It’s hard not to turn towards others for validation and approval.

They promise themselves they will feel better if they can just get through the next tough thing is this: semester, this exam, this championship. However, the tough things just keep coming.

Being a teenager is hard. It is a period of identity exploration, rapid change and development, and increased expectations and responsibilities. It is even tougher in the days of social media when it feels like they are doing everything under a stage light.

Like my clients, your teen deserves a supportive space to work through their struggles. Now is the time to give them the safe, non-judgmental support they need. We will work together to develop new, healthier patterns so that they reach their potential, without sacrificing their mental health.

Therapy for Young Adults

My clients struggle as you do. Despite being young, ambitious, and high achieving in other people’s eyes, life feels hard.

They struggle with people-pleasing. When they first come in, they would rather feel badly themselves then tell someone else no. They end up stretched too thin and are exhausted by the ups-and-downs of relationships.

They are hardest on themselves. Their inner critic is LOUD. Despite many achievements, they feel unaccomplished. Nothing they do feels like it is ‘enough.’  They tell themselves they can relax-- once they get everything, including themselves, under control and perfect.

They thought going to college, getting to a certain weight, or starting their first job would help them feel confident, but they still find they spend too much time worrying. They’ve worked hard to get where they are yet are already feeling burnt out. Continuing to jump through endless hoops sounds daunting.

Before they came to therapy, they thought this pattern was inevitable and inescapable. Like my clients, you deserve a helping hand to understand your patterns and start taking better care of yourself.

Change is within reach. If you would like to challenge old ways of thinking, ditch the overwhelm, and build a life that reflects your values, I’d love to help you get there.
